AEC RT
Clyde Coast Services Ltd.
Catalogue Ref: 04/32B02/0902
Price: Please e-mail
Clyde Coast
Services Ltd., the smallest of the Ayrshire independents, was formed
in 1928 when several members of the Ayrshire Bus Owners Association
(operating as A1 Service) decided to break away to concentrate
on a single strategic route along the Ayrshire coast between Largs and
Saltcoats with Western SMT Co. Ltd. as their major competitor. Double-deckers
were first introduced on this route in 1941 and from the mid 1950s
ex-London Transport RTs and RTLs were eagerly snapped up by both Clyde
Coast and A1 Service.
The model
is finished in Clyde Coasts attractive blue and silver-grey
livery and carries route branding above the lower deck windows (Largs,
Fairlie, West Kilbride, Seamill, Ardrossan, Saltcoats) as well
as appropriate side adverts for The Moorings restaurant
in Largs and Henderson of Largs and West Kilbride, TV, radio
and electrical retailers.

Guy Arab
(Utility) A1 Service
Catalogue Ref.: 04/30C02/0207
Price: Please e-mail
A1 Service
(Ayrshire Bus Owners Association) was formed in 1926 and comprised a
number of independent members each of whom owned and operated one or
more buses using the A1 Service fleet name and livery with
a common fare structure and timetable.
The Guy Arab
with wartime utility bodywork was relatively rare amongst A1 Service
fleet members. A1 became part of Western SMT Co.Ltd. which became Stagecoach
West Scotland in 1995. Until fairly recently Stagecoach retained the
A1 Service livery for its buses operating the Ardrossan-Kilmarnock
services.
